Privacy Policy

CaptionPiP is a Chrome extension that opens a custom Picture-in-Picture player and helps keep captions visible while watching videos.

No external servers CaptionPiP does not send caption text, video content, settings, analytics, or identifiers to the developer or to any external server.
Local processing Caption and page text are processed in your browser only while the Picture-in-Picture player is running.
Local preferences Only extension preferences such as caption style, site settings, and PiP size are saved through Chrome extension storage.

Data storage

CaptionPiP stores settings using Chrome extension storage. If Chrome sync is enabled in your browser, Chrome may sync these extension settings through your Google account according to Chrome's own sync behavior.

CaptionPiP does not store watched video content, caption history, browsing history, account information, passwords, payment information, or personal identity information.

Data sharing

CaptionPiP does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user data with third parties.

CaptionPiP does not send caption text, video content, page content, settings, analytics, or identifiers to the developer or to any external server.

The developer does not have access to, and does not review, caption text, watched video content, browsing history, or saved extension settings.

Remote services and tracking

CaptionPiP does not use analytics, advertising trackers, remote code, OCR services, speech-to-text services, subtitle download services, or media recording services.

Retention and deletion

Caption text is used only while the Picture-in-Picture player is running and is not saved by CaptionPiP. Saved extension preferences remain in Chrome extension storage until you remove them from the options page, reset the extension, or uninstall CaptionPiP.

Diagnostics

If you copy a local support report from the options page, the report is generated in your browser and excludes caption text, watched video content, and manually selected selector values.

CaptionPiP requests only the permissions needed for its single purpose:

User control

You can turn captions on or off per site, change caption styling, remove saved site settings from the options page, or uninstall the extension at any time. Removing the extension deletes its extension storage from Chrome.
